Naval Academy Summer Seminar

I was selected for the Naval Academy Summer Seminar and undertook high-intensity physical training combined with academic classes.

Marching alongside a sea of black and brown faces showed me this was not just the domain of white conservatives; the commanders leading fireside chats were largely women and POC, talking about how to combat discrimination in the military; there WAS space for me; my own activist commitments, I realize, are one and the same with the military: making the country a better place
